New Homes: What Do You Want In A Luxury Home?

When my youngest child moved out, I was left living in a large home by myself. Weekend visits from the grandchildren only filled the space part of the time. The home became more of a burden as each day passed. It was not until I was working with my real estate agent to sell my home and find a smaller home did I realize that there were so many others in the same position. I created this blog to help other empty nesters explore their options for downsizing and to provide guidance on finding a new home that fits in more with their lifestyle.

New homes hit the market every day, but you may want something that is a bit more luxurious than most. Be it the location of the property or what amenities come with the home, when looking at new homes with a luxurious price tag, it's worth it to know what is best for your needs. What should you look for in a luxury home? Speak about these common features in new homes worth considering with your real estate agent, as they can help you get the best home for what you want.

Location

Look at new homes in a prime location if you want a luxury home. Properties to consider include waterfront homes or homes that border golf courses. These homes may be more private in their design and location, have better views than other new homes on the market, and can come with benefits—such as immediate access to the water or a golf course—that no other home in the area may have.

Features

What features do new homes have on the market that other homes might not have? What about a giant garage or attached shop? An indoor elevator? A swimming pool or interior hot tub? Custom cabinets or countertops? Gold-plated bathroom and kitchen fixtures? Luxury homes, particularly new homes with more modern touches, tend to have features you won't find in any other property.

While homes with luxury features often carry a higher price tag because of it, it may be worth it to you as a buyer looking for a luxury home. What the previous owners spent on features you don't have to invest in now and can continue to enjoy the equity these features place in the home.

Land/privacy

One of the best reasons to look at new homes with luxury designs is this: these homes often carry lots of privacy features like coded gated entries, private drives, and lots of land to enjoy for solitude and privacy. Landscapes are often designed around privacy as well to add to the allure of these properties. If new homes on the market are too crowded for your liking and you want something with privacy and its own private piece of the world, consider new homes with luxury to them and lots of valued space.

Your realtor can help you find new homes with luxury designs for your budget and preferences. When looking at new homes on the market, make sure they have the luxury features you desire so you can feel most satisfied with the property you pick.
